Where Its From: Howell Mountain AVA within Napa Valley, California
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Oak Aging: 19 months in 100% French oak (79% new)
Note from Dani: I’ve had the opportunity to taste many fantastic wines from the Napa Valley throughout my career which can make it difficult to choose “favorites”. In the past year, however, I’ve somehow tasted Cade over and over…and oftentimes side-by-side other iconic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons. If there’s a comparative taste test competition, Cade keeps winning. Which is why I’ve chosen to feature it in the Full Glass Bottle Shop.
This wine is such a standout because, coming from the high-elevation vineyards of Howell Mountain, it showcases rich black fruit depth integrated beautifully with vanilla notes from French oak aging. And although this wine is quintessentially Napa Valley, there’s an old-world component to it which keeps it balanced (aka…not too hot and heavy). All of these factors are what have made it one of my absolute favorite go-to Napa Cabs.
